The little ways that God speaks to us and gives us the answers that we least expect, is simply extraordinary…
Back in June when Joe and I were on our trip out west, we visited Glacier National Park in Montana. Once inside the park, we were both highly disappointed and irritated to discover that the main road through the park (The Road to the Sun) was closed and we couldn’t go over the pass. We were complaining like crazy as we drove -I KNOW, I KNOW…we were complaining driving through one of the most breathtaking parks in the country!!!
Never mind the beauty that we had seen throughout the park (and everywhere else we had been) not to mention how much FUN we were having. But…even at the best of times, we all need those little (or BIG) reminders, every now and again, to start looking at our situation/circumstance/disappointment with fresh “eyes”.
The deal was, we agreed, that we would give ourselves 10 minutes (time to get to the exit) to get it out of our system and get over it. Bitch away, and then it’s OVER! We’re in Montana USA for god sake!
As soon as we crossed through the exit we both looked at each other- we were done. Rant over. No more complaining.
As we pulled out from the gate we decided to check out the gift shop. As we are pulling in what do you think happened???
What happened was a blind man walked out of the little shop right in front of us. He was using his cane, holding the arm of his friend, as they both smiled and laughed. Do you think he was complaining that he couldn’t get to the summit?! I recognized the lesson in an instant.
WOW… Talk about putting things into perspective…. (THANK YOU!!) I’m always amazed at how God teaches if we are paying attention. Change your thoughts, change your life. Something I have to practice daily.
Peace.
