A huge aspect of making life long changes is believing that you can do it and breaking your goals into small, achievable steps. My goals are ALL based on how I want to FEEL (thank you Danielle Laporte!)
Let’s talk about making a commitment to yourself and feeling fantastic every second of the day.
Imagine how amazing that would feel in your body, and believe me, it is possible.
- I consciously commit to flexibility and detachment.
I NEVER set my alarm anymore, but beginning tomorrow I will be. I’m going to create this new habit to re-enforce what I already KNOW to be true. I did this for a short time earlier in the year and found it made a big impact on how I felt. I got sloppy, lazy, and OR life just got in the way…and again, I didn’t make myself a priority. So I quit doing it. I LOVE the early morning hours. Dr. Wayne Dyer always said that when you wake between 3 & 4 a.m. (that’s a bit too early for me, but…) you are the closest to God that you will be all day. I believe it. Quiet. Silence. Presence.
If you find yourself making excuses that you don’t have the time to do this, examine why you might be avoiding checking in with yourself. Even just a few minutes will reap benefits, and eventually this will become as integrated into your morning routine as brushing your teeth. (And I KNOW you’re making time for that! Right?)
Declarations and journaling: Take a few minutes to close your eyes and breathe. Connect with yourself. Move into your convictions by either saying them out loud (declare it!) or writing them down. Do your journaling in the morning so you don’t make excuses later in the day to not do it. When journaling, you want to write down how you envision your new life, gradually changing the picture in your head of what’s possible. We are setting the stage for new behaviors, which is essential for lasting results.
Here’s an example: Dear Self, I love that it’s so easy to get up every morning and spend some time alone, putting you on the top of my list. I am so happy and grateful now that my body has started releasing extra weight by making JOY a priority, everyday. I will no longer judge my desire for dark chocolate and I will embrace it by having only the BEST dark chocolate money can buy, and savor every bite!
I would love to know if you have a daily routine that’s allowing you to make better decisions throughout your day. Leave your two cents and share some love in the comments below.
